Outline of the bilateral relations

Romania and Poland enjoy excellent bilateral relations, building up on the Strategic Partnership signed by the two countries in 2009, as well as on the consistent and dynamic high-level political and diplomatic dialogue throughout the recent years.

The establishing of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the Republic of Poland - thus reconfirming the broad convergence of views on numerous regional, European and international issues - and of the later five-year Action Plan (2010) opened up a great chapter of cooperation and enhanced the relations to a new dimension.

In the framework of the Strategic Partnership of the two countries, a special importance is given to the coordination of the positions in the field of European affairs and international security agenda.

The year 2013 had a special significance for the bilateral relations, as it marked the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Romanian-Polish Treaty on Friendly Relations and Cooperation (January 25th, 1993). Public diplomacy events dedicated to this anniversary have been organized both in Bucharest and Warsaw.

2014 will mark the 75th celebration of the Polish exile to Romania, a significant chapter of our common past.
